The Morning Mash Up Chamber of Justice: Car Pooling Problem

judge

Today’s case is one of two friends car pooling, here are both sides of the argument:

Plaintiff: Carley from Nevada

Carley and her friend Sara work at the same company. For a little over 6 months, Carley has been picking Sara up for work.  It’s not a big deal, Sara is on the way.  However, Carley is annoyed because not once has Sara offered to help chip in for gas. Even though Sara is on the way to work, Carley thinks that Sara should give her some money once in a while, or at least offer it, since she no longer has to drive to work and pay the money to fill up her own car nearly as often.

Defendant: Sara from Nevada.

Sara doesn’t think she needs to offer or give Carley gas money at all. She is on Carley’s way to work, we’re talking literally on one of the streets that Carley drives on to get there. Why should she give Carley gas money if she’s isn’t inconvenienced in any way at all? Carley passes her house on the way to work anyway so it’s not like Carley is using any extra gas to pick Sara up.

What do you guys think? Is Carley just penny pinching or is Sara just being unappreciative?

Verdict: 2 to 1 in favor of Carley.

Rich and Ryan believe that Sara should be appreciative of what Carley does for her on the daily. Even if she doesn’t offer Carley gas money daily or weekly, she could at least offer to buy Carley breakfast here and there. Sara just needs to do something as a token of her gratitude toward Carley to show her that she appreciates the thoughtfulness, and for saving her cash as well!

For Christmas or Carley’s birthday, Sara could get her a gas card. — or just on a random day to show her thanks! Sara should definitely do something for Carley…

Even though its on the way, she should still offer to do something. Lunch gas something! Sara is saving a lot of wear and tear on her own car not driving. So be appreciative girl!!!!

I think that both people are right in a way. I mean Sarah is not asking Carley to drive her. Carley offered to drive her. But on the other hand it is kinda rude to take advantage of someone like that.

i would definately say sarah should offer something. she can always take her own car and start buying her own gas, so be appreciative and get her something, like the gas card as mentioned above. it’ll show she appreciates the offer of being driven to work.

Sara should at least offer to get her gas once in a while or take her out to lunch, because Carley doesn’t have to stop, she can keep going, she’s taking the time to stop for her. Sara should just appreciate it.

I think that Sara should chip in ATLEAST from time to time, just because of the nice thing that Carley is doing. Come on, return the favor!

She should definitely help pay for gas! The fact that she hasn’t even offered is so rude…I had a friend who asked if I wanted to go on a road trip to a football game last fall. I agreed and we decided I would drive (my car is newer and would definitely make the trip…his was iffy). I assumed he would offer to split gas…I mean afterall it was his idea to go anyway! He never did and it really pissed me off!

Gas ain’t cheap!!! Give the girl some gas money!!!

I think that Sara should offer some money. On the way or not, you’re not using your gas or your money to get to work. And back. She is being really nice and taking you there. Saving you money, that you should be paying to her.
