Rich Davis Hates The Word Fiancé

Rich Davis' Fiance' & "The Rock"

As you guys found out yesterday, Rich is engaged. However, there’s just one the thing, he won’t call his fiancé his fiancé. He hates the word and thinks it’s snooty. He describes it as a word used by “a snooty French guy in a turtle-neck drinking wine out of a goblet.” Luckily, his “wife-to-be” (that’s what he’s saying instead) isn’t a huge fan of the word either, so she doesn’t mind him not using it.

Nicole thinks it’s weird that he doesn’t like the word or use it, and is berating him in true Nicole fashion. What should Rich call his “wife-to-be when he introduces her to people? Do you think fiancé is a snooty word? If you don’t use fiancé, what do you call the person your engaged too? Oh, and if you’re wondering where the word fiancé comes from, here is what answers.com says:

The origin of the word fiance is mid 19th century, from French, past participle of fiancer ‘betroth,’ from Old French fiance ‘a promise,’ based on Latin fidere ‘to trust.

I think it should be up to Rich what he wants to call her. Until they sign those papers they are still b/f & g/f. Rich could call her Wife Light? Just like a wife, without all of the legal stuff????

just buy her a t-shirt that states “Property of Rich Davis” there done. It says it all!!!!!!! Congrats by the way!!!!

First off, congrats Rich! Another friend down. If you both don’t like the word, don’t use it. Wife to be is a great way of introducing her, as well as myf uture wife. As long as you both agree…it’s great!

I heard you say her name was Sarah. You could always introduce her “This is Sarah and she’s The One”. Congrats!

Rich you are lucky man to have found a woman who loves you and can handle your uniqueness. I so can’t wait until you have your first child you are going to grow up and get over yourself..you certainly have a sense of the ridiculous. They do make us all laugh though so I will give you that….

Well, you can tell Sara and I are related!! I am engaged as well and I never use the word “fiance.” I never liked it and always felt silly saying it. Don’t know why. So I guess your wondering what I call my future husband??? Ohhh, I have lot’s of names I call him!! Some good and some not so good!! Lol….
