I know this entry is late, but I was browsing the site and found this. i dont know anything about a micropig, but if its anything like REAL pig, I can tell you it’s probably a mistake to keep it in a house or apartment. First question I would ask you is have you ever smelled pig poop? It’s pretty rotten and can absorb into your shoes or your hand if you work with a big pig. Personally, if Wilbur decided to not use his training, I would HATE to be the person to clean that up. I raised pigs for showing and slaughter, and from those experiences, I suggest keeping the pigs in the barn.

Micro pigs make wonderful pets, they are cute, funny, and very intelligent. However, i must stress that they do not stay the size of a small rabbit for long. Yes they are tiny when a few weeks old but its a misconception that they stay small. They will grow up to roughly the size of a small/medium sized dog. If you are considering micro pigs you may want to look into the regulations about keeping livestock, I believe you need to register your household as a pig farm of some sort with the RPA, & also if you intend to take it for walks or shopping or whatever you need to get a special walking licence for them, this is due to the foot & mouth stuff a few years back, & the movement of cloven foot animals is monitored, you could even be prosecuted if you don’t register the pig I guess?

Pigs are wonderful pets. I grew up with two pot-bellied pigs in the house and they were so easy and fun. Pigs are very clean. They don’t get fleas like furry pets and they don’t smell either. The hardest part about raising a pig is trying to find someone who knows how to trim their hooves.

The pigs are another bad idea! Pigs are smart and need to be treated differently than other pets, how many people have the time to learn how to care for them. How many vets know how to treat a micro pig and what happens when people get tired of having this little fad pet. More animals being abused by idiots following a fad and pets being destroyed in the pound. This is one idea that needs to stop before it starts.

Yeah…I don’t know how I feel about getting a pig for a pet…I say get Phoebe another puppy Nicole. That’s what I did for my puppy when I felt that she needed a playmate. But I’m not gonna lie, they’re pretty darn cute! I’ve never seen such a tiny pig.

I dont think there’s enough bacon there for a meal…LOL And yes….I’d love to have one! Pigs make very clean housepets….or so Ive heard….they can be pan trained like a cat or outdoor trained like a dog. (Except for Phoebe cuz Nicole wont crate train…LOL)
