How Sick Do You Have To Be To Call Out?

How Sick Do You Have To Be To Call Out?

Stan explained to the Morning Mash Up that he’s getting a little aggravated that his kids keep getting sick. Every time they get better, one of the kids in their class gets sick with something else and passes it on to them. Stanley’s getting seriously annoyed and used to think that his kids should only stay home if they were really sick but, now he’s reconsidering.

Stan now thinks you’re going to get everyone else sick then just stay home. It’s not helpful and annoying for you to spread your sickness around to everyone else. This goes for adults too. The workplace is just like a classroom in spreading germs. Nicole agrees, but Rich and Ryan do not agree with Stan at all. They feel that unless you’re on your deathbed, you should not call out sick. Down some medication, suck it up, and get your butt to the office.

How sick do YOU have to be to call out of work? Do you think people should stay home when they’re not feeling well or are you like Rich and Ryan and think that unless you’re seriously ill, you should get up and go to work?

Do You Have A Weird Allergy?

Do You Have A Weird Allergie?

Morning Mash Up’s producer Mikey Piff found this article about a woman who found out she was allergic to her husband’s man juice, on their wedding night. Talk about a night gone wrong. That’s definitely not an allergy you hear about often, and it sure isn’t the standard way you find out your allergic to something.

Ryan knows someone who’s allergic to the sun (what?!). If he goes outside without wearing sunglasses he sneezes uncontrollably. Nicole’s mom is allergic to penicillin, which isn’t all too uncommon. However, the way her mom found out she was allergic was when she was taking it as an antibiotic and broke out in hives all over her body during a dinner party.

What weird allergies do you or someone you know have? Have you found out you were allergic to something in an unconventional way. Share your stories with all of us! :)

Ryan’s Gym Conspiracy Theory

Ryan Sampson Before & After The Fat

We all know how Ryan loves his conspiracy theories. Well, he’s got another one to throw on the pile – gyms. Yes, gyms. Apparently, Ryan is convinced that gyms are just a big rip off, and you don’t need them to lose weight. He’s lost a ton of weight without going to the gym.

Ryan is also quick to point out that there are tons of people who eat like crap and go to the gym all the time, and don’t lose any weight. He believes it’s all about what you eat. Stan, Nicole and Rich think he is out of his mind. Of course the gym helps you lose weight. Not only does it help you lose weight but, more importantly, it gets you in shape.

Ryan is a firm believer that if you eat right, and do other physical activity that does not involve going to a gym, you can achieve your healthy and physical goals. The rest of The Morning Mash Up agrees that healthy eating habits are important, but in order to really get into great shape you do need to get to the gym, or else you will just be slimmer, but not have any tone to your body that lifting weights and other gym exercises/equipment can give you.

Do you agree with Ryan that you don’t need the gym to lose weight and be healthy? Or do you side with Rich, Stan and Nicole and think that working out at the gym is an important part to losing weight and being healthy?

Is It Vain To Size Up Your Potential Mates Genetics?

Is It Vain To Size Up Your Potential Mates Genetics?

There was an article out recently about a sperm bank that allows people to choose from donors that supposedly look like celebrities. Rich says that clearly these people are obsessed with these celebrities to choose look-a-likes as sperm donors, and they also feel they’re kids will come out looking like that celebrity. Everybody hopes for good looking kids, but Rich wonders as you’re sizing up a potential mate, is it vain and wrong to think about what you’re kids would like and what they will look like in 20 years?

Stanley T thinks it’s natural to wonder about that. He sized up his wife to make sure that she would physically be able to carry children. Nicole thinks it’s slightly vein to think about what the person will look like. It’s not like anyone is going to stay a spring chicken forever. Nicole can see judging how children would look though. Ryan is guilty of thinking the same thing as well. He always takes a look at a girls mom to see what the aging process is going to look like.

Have you caught yourself doing this to your potential future mate? Is it vain and wrong to judge a potential mate by what you think they’ll look like in 20 years, and what your kids would look like?

Is It Ok To…Share A Toothbrush?

Is It Ok To...Share A Toothbrush?

Rich’s girlfriend was in town last week, and she did something that Rich thought was a little strange. She used his toothbrush without asking him. Personally, Rich didn’t care but it’s one of those things that a lot of people would be freaked out about sharing.  Ryan thinks that it’s OK if it’s your girlfriend or boyfriend, after all you make out with them, but anyone else is just gross. Nicole seconds Ryan’s thoughts but Stanley T, as we all know, does not like to share – whether it’s Mountain Dew or his toothbrush. Do you think it’s OK to share a toothbrush? Does it have to be a specific situation or maybe there is a timeline where you’re comfortable sharing it? Share your thoughts and experiences with everyone. :)

Getting Mad At Someone Because Of A Dream?

Have You Ever Gotten Angry At Someone Because Of A Dream?

The other night Rich had a dream that he got to meet President Barack Obama. The President struck up a conversation with him and they just began shooting the breeze on all kinds of things. The intern on Rich’s afternoon talk show (Covino & Rich), Mark Zito, was also there and was taking pictures and video of this conversation. When Obama and Rich finished their conversation, and Obama went on his way, Rich asked Mark to see the pictures and video.

That’s when he told Rich that he wasn’t paying attention and accidentally deleted all the pictures and video. Of course, in his dream Rich got really mad, but it didn’t end there. When Rich got to work the next day and Mark said hello to him, he shouted “I hate you!” Stan has a similar story where he once woke up to his wife staring at him angrily, and when he asked her what was wrong she just yelled at him, “If you ever cheat on me I’ll kill you!” Stan told her she needs to stop watching those Lifetime movies.

Have you ever gotten mad at someone in a dream and carried it over into real life? Has anyone ever gotten mad at you for what you did in their dream?

Not So Delicious: Where’s The Line Between Healthy Eating & Enjoying Your Life?

Healthy eating vs Enjoying your life

Ryan’s friend asked him if he wanted to go grab BBQ tonight for dinner and Ryan is slightly apprenhensive.  He’s at his all time low weight right now, (if you don’t know, Ryan has lost over 100 pounds to date!) and he doesn’t want to go out and gorge on BBQ and then gain 10 pounds.  On the other end, Nicole reminds the guys how she and Stan went with The Mash Up’s boss Kid Kelly to get some lunch and he convinced them to get one of those super healthy, all natural type drinks.  And we’re not talking about yogurt and fruit natural, we’re talking wheat grass healthy.  This drink looked like blended spinach and it tasted horrific.  Stan looked like the drink was going to come back up his throat the minute he took a sip and Nicole, miss eat healthy herself, couldn’t even stomach it down.

Rich says that Ryan should just live his life and enjoy some BBQ and not sacrifice all the foods he loves to eat soley just to make sure he eats 100% healthy.  This situation begs the question, where do you draw the line between eating healthy and eating tasty food.  We’re all trying to eat a little healthier but do we have to sacrifice taste and force down food that tastes like cardboard and grass to do so?  What’s the worst health food you’ve ever eaten?  Where’s the line between living and enjoying your life and eating healthy?

Happy Weight, Truth or Fiction?

Happy Fat

Rich recently read an article  on a study done a few years ago, as well as doing his own “scientific research”, that stated when a woman gets into a relationship and/or moves in with her signigicant other, she will usually gain “happy weight”. He says this means bad news for Nicole because her and her boyfriend will be moving in together in a few months. Nicole says she’s already gained a few pounds but it’s nothing major.  Afterall, a relationship is something that requires your time so all those free hours you had for working out an hour and a half at the gym are now spent being with your significant other.

Rich wants to know if anyone else believes in this theory of “happy weight”.  Ryan thinks it’s guys who gain more weight in relationships than girls.  Stan says that each person in a relationship wants the other to be happy so if one has a favorite restaurant, you’re going to go and eat there.  Your boyfriend/girlfriend has a favorite meal, you’re going to make it for them knowing they love it.  However, Rich thinks that men and women getting “happy weight” is just being lazy.  He hates the concept that people stay in shape and diet to look great and meet the right person but then when they meet that person they completely let go. If you were both making sure you looked good before the relationship, you should continue doing so after. There’s not reaon why a couple can’t work out together and make sure they eat reasonably healthy food.

What do you make of this theory?  Do you believe it or is it just an excuse for people not to try anymore?  Have you been able to stop yourself from gaining happy weight?

What Do You When You Get Your First Grey Hairs?

anderson cooper

This morning Rich noticed that a few grey hairs started emerging in Ryan’s hair. While Rich used to pluck his, his current girlfriend likes them so he’s stopped. Ryan on the other hand wants to know what he should do about it. Should he pluck it, dye it, or leave it alone? Do girls even care about whether a guy has gray hair or not anymore? Rich thinks he should pluck it, Nicole says he should dye it, and Stan think he should just leave it alone. It is just a couple gray hairs. While Nicole knows women who do dye their hair when they start going gray she doesn’t really know what the protocol for guys is. There are more and more hair products out there for guys now. Even some that have you stay partially gray but  keep you from going full-on gray. There are also tons of celebrities that rock grey hair, like CNN’s Anderson Cooper or George Clooney. Even Brad Pitt has shown a few greys. What would you do in Ryan’s situation? As a guy, if you started going gray would you pluck it, dye it, or leave it alone?
